Localized Treatments
Localized or as they are sometimes referred to “spot treatments” are designed to treat limited areas of infestation. Treatments of this nature should only be used when the area of infestation is accessible and the infestation isn’t likely to extend in to inaccessible areas. These treatments can be performed for both drywood termite and subterranean termites that have infested only portions of a structure and no outward signs that the infestation extends into inaccessible areas.
Localized treatments can be performed for a wide variety of situations in both a residential and commercial setting. In structures with property setbacks that won’t allow for a fumigation, buildings that abut each other, people with medical conditions that can’t be moved out two nights, condos, apartments, town homes and others that for one reason or another fumigation is simply out of the question.
Treatments of this kind can be performed with a wide variety of materials that are registered for this type of application. Our choice of products depends on the particular situation.
For drywood termite localized treatments we generally use a foam application system that provides a variance of pressure from 5 to 100 pounds of pressure. Using the high pressure injection method allows the foam to be pushed through the entire termite gallery network unlike an aerosol can that will only cover a small spot.
Foaming applications for drywood termites may also be done in wall cavities (void area between wall studs) as both a control and preventative treatment. The foam application allows the product to hang on the surface of the wood providing further penetration into the wood and even push through insulation without running out all over the floor as a liquid only treatment would do.

Localized treatments may also be performed for subterranean termite control.
Subterranean termites often invade a structure from under a concrete slab foundation or porch. The soil below these areas usually settles away from the foundation over time, causing low spots and voids. In situations like this we first inject a liquid termiticide followed by a sub-slab foam application. Even though some of the liquid may run to a low spot similar to rain water filling a pot hole the foam will build up under the slab until it contacts the underside of the cement and then moves horizontally covering all the areas low and high. In subterranean termite control, it is critical to not have any gaps in the treated area, foam insures complete coverage.
ubterranean termites also enter structures from under patio doors, ground level windows, crack’s in the slab and cold joints (gaps between a garage floor and foundation or around sunken living rooms) and plumbing penetrations. In these situations it is crucial to push the product into these cracks and gaps to provide complete coverage. In these situations the foam will move under the concrete until it finds the crack or gap and will completely contact the surfaces.
