Borates have been in use since 1910.
Borates have been used as a wood preservative since 1940.
The label covers prevention and control of fungus, wood decay, termites, beetles, and carpenter ants.
The borate actually penetrates into unsealed wood.
Borates are odorless.
The moisture in wood actually aids in the diffusion of the product. Wood can be handled, painted or stained after the treatment is dry.
25 - 40 + years residual in wood that is protected from constant moisture.
To control wood destroying organisms, Boron is the answer. Termites ingest the borates while feeding, then spread the active ingredient throughout the colony, effectively controlling the members. Beetle larvae ingest the borates from treated wood and soon die. Carpenter ants find the wood unpalatable, so they don’t nest. If they come into contact with the powder, they ingest the borates in an attempt to clean themselves and soon die. Decay fungi is killed off on contact.
Boron can be used in addition to a termiticide to treat active infestations of both drywood termites & subterranean termites with lasting residual control.
Many insects including, ants, cockroaches, crickets, earwigs, silverfish, spiders and other unwanted pests are effectively controlled from the powder when it’s dusted into cracks, crevices and voids.
Use Boron, and you’ll find our brand of pest control is not only natural and effective, it’s more progressive.
A sound solution that lasts.
Boron, once applied, whether to treat an existing problem remedially, or to prevent an infestation, your home will be protected. You won’t be inconvenienced by having to pack up and leave. Fumigation will be a thing of the past. The application process is performed by trained, certified professionals.
Best of all, Boron will provide your home with a longer lasting solution, effectively treating the common problem of insects and pests.

Dealing With Decay
The first and most important thing to do once decay is discovered is to figure out where the water is coming from. Check for the obvious roof and plumbing leaks, and missing or punctured flashing.
In-place treatment with borates
Dormant fungi can be reactivated when dry, infected wood is re-wetted. Consider treating infected, but otherwise serviceable wood left in place with a (DOT) Disodium Octaborate Tetrahydrate based preservative that will not only kill active fungi, but guard against future infection as well. Borates have low toxicity to humans and are even approved for interior use in food processing plants. They don't affect wood's strength, color, or finishability, don't corrode fasteners, and don't outgas vapors. Widely used in treating new timbers for log homes, they're the preservative of choice for remedial treatment of existing wood in homes and other buildings. Because of the decay hazard posed whenever wood such as patio or fence posts, bears on concrete or masonry, concentrated diffusible borates are often applied to inhibit infestations or infection.
Based on this data, boric acid and Boron are not significantly different in toxicity than common table salt. In addition, both boric acid and Boron are less toxic than aspirin. The greater the LD50 rating the safer the substance is. When compared to these common household items, boric acid and Boron are not particularly dangerous, and, if used properly, will not cause poisoning.
So are borates toxic? Certainly, and so is virtually every and anything else you come in contact with. It is simply a matter of quantity, and the simple fact is that exposure to borates should not cause alarm in anyone.
In the low levels at which these borate products are applied still make them very effective control agents of decay fungi, termites, powder post beetles, and as preventative treatments on any unpainted or sealed wood in new construction, remodeling, room additions and decks.
NEW CONSTRUCTION & REMODELING
Living in Southern California, getting termites in your home is almost as certain as sunshine, potholes and traffic jams. If you’re building or remodeling why not protect all the wood with Boron? Once the application is complete, your home will have long-term protection from termites, powder-post beetles, fungus decay and any other wood destroying pest or organism.
Commonly ask questions:
Q. Does wood treated with boron require any special handling?
A. No. Once applied and dry it can be handled, sawed, nailed, stained or painted.
Q. Is it safe?
A. The toxicity is slightly above table salt and about two and one half times greater than aspirin and, if used properly by professionals, do not cause any adverse affects.
Q. How do I know all the wood has been treated?
A. We have test kits available to confirm that any wood in question has been treated.
Q. Will it hold up the construction?
A. No, typically an entire house can be treated in one day or less. Contactors can continue work within hours after it is applied.
Q. What if all the wood is not installed when you treat?
A. If the wood is on site we can treat it before it is installed. If more wood is brought in later we can make a second trip for a nominal fee.
Q. How is it applied?
A. We apply the product with a low-pressure spray system to all accessible wood members.
Q. What does your company do that is different than other companies?
A. We treat all accessible wood from the roof decking down, not just the lower portions of walls and the ends of the rafters. We apply two applications at the exterior eaves, around all plumbing areas, window openings, door openings, skylight and vent openings.
Q. Does it matter how the boron is mixed?
A. Proper mixing of the product is an important factor in the penetration of the boron into the wood. We use a power mixer to ensure the product is completely in solution.
Do it once, do it right and be done with it.
